James Dean had a '49 Merc so can you
Full frame off restoration with only 2,500 miles. Beautiful black paint with stunning chrome. Custom black and deep red interior. I like the chrome dash with the custom chrome tilt column and Lecarra steering wheel. Power steering. Power windows. Power seat. 2 speed electric wipers with wiper arms removed and chrome bullet wiper knob covers. ( Who is going to drive this Mercury in the rain? Not me. ) 1976 Camaro 400 small block with 1010 crank, flat top pistons, 300 HP cam, Port polished, Balanced,10.5 to 1 compression and topped with a Carter 600 AFB competition series carburetor. Dual electric cooling fans. High torque starter that is heat rapped for easy hot engine starts and it works great. The engine compartment is show, with the polished custom Mercury valve covers. Automatic transmission. Camaro 11” disc brakes on the front. 242 Camaro rear end. Air rear suspension. Vintage “AIR”. Kenwood AM/FM/CD sound system with 4 speakers. Shaved door handles with keyless remote. Trunk lock and emblems shaved with hidden trunk opener. Hood is also shaved. Dual dummy spot lights. I forgot to mention flame throwers. Triple cap full length lake pipes for looks only. The underside is like new and all black. I have photos of the restoration and it looks to me like the only bad spot on the original body was the right rear quarter, which was replaced. Floor pans look great. One of the photos shows the original car with California black license plate. The paint, body and engine were restored in Visalia, California by Russ Rogers. You want a ’49 Merc, one of the great all time custom cars, this may be the Mercury you are looking for. Cond. 2+.
