1953 Chevrolet 5 Window PU

Same owner since 1997.  Looks stock on the outside except custom wheels and pin striping.  Underneath, the front end is from a 1962 Chevy PU including the rebuilt 283 engine and 350 turbo automatic transmission and power steering.  Chevy rear end. The yellow paint was painted about 20 years ago. Right now it has some chips, scrapes and a couple of small dents. Custom interior. Beautiful wood bed with chrome strips are as Rod bought it all those years ago. He just installed a Holley carburetor, radiator and had the brakes redone 3 years ago. It has not been driven since. Since the truck had been sitting for 3 years, I took my trailer to pick it up. You never know what to expect when you have not heard a vehicle run or gotten to drive it. I called Andrew to get a new battery so we could install it when I got to the Club House. We rolled it out of the trailer, installed the battery, put a little gas down the carb and it fired right up. I had a feeling this would be a good PU. I could tell by looking around Rod's garage. He has a beautiful '40 Chev very subtle looking 2 door street rod sedan. That was his reason for selling, he drove the '40 and not the PU. It was a tight fit in his garage. Now he has more room. Anyway, getting back to the PU, I drove it home to see how it would run and drive. I was pleasantly surprised. I like driving it. You know how you get behind the wheel and you drive off not knowing what to expect? Sometimes it's not very good, but I liked this PU right away.  It feels good and it's comfortable to drive. So far about 100 miles. I had it up to about 60 MPH and it's great. I have not found any signs of rust. Metal Frictions just did the service and safety check for us and installed new rear brakes. We installing new exhaust from the exhaust manifold all the way back and it sounds great. Installed new front tires and the back ones are very good. . Andrew polished the wheels and they look good. We installed a electric cooling fan. This PU just keeps getting better. The photos you see are just how I bought it. Cond. 3+
