2010 Isle of Vashon Vintage Motorcycle ride August 29th

Great Ride always The VME does an outstanding job doing the Isle each year. The VME was established in 1982 and have a large membership. I rode a 1972 Triumph T 100 R 500 that we had just got ready to sell and Andrew was going to ride a 1973 Honda CL 350 we just bought and did not get it ready in time so Andrew rode my BMW Dakar. I know we should have gotten another Classic running but we thought the CL would be rideable in time. We left the Club House in cloudy weather ( its suppose be summer) The sun did try to come out all day. We meet up at the Luna cafe in west Seattle for breakfast. Then off to the ferry for the short ride to Vashon island. Lots of bikes. Now this is a well established 28th year Vintage ride all kinds of bikes show up. We depart the ferry and ride to the the town of Vashon to sign up. Every where you look there are bikes. The event which consist of a poker run the length of the island. At signup you throw a dart at deck of cards for your first card and then 3 check points for more cards and we end up at the Sportsmen Club for your last card. Nothing every year its the same I guess thats why I dont play cards. At the end they have a Classic bike show, a field meet and good food (corn was great) and lots of bikes to see. Andrew and I left early for other reasons. As always a great ride I look forward to it every year. Jeri Drager
