1942 American LaFrance Fire Engine 1000 Gallon Pumper
My dad bought this firetruck over 40 years ago. As I remember the story it came from Whidbey Island Naval Air Station but when I found the title it had Skagit County on the title and maybe it came from by the Naval Air Station? Supposedly the engine was rebuilt and I'm not sure how my dad got it to Anacortes. But I do know he tried to get it running even towing it too compression start it but he never got it running. This is not the first fire engine that my dad bought. He bought an old Mack fire engine for the Seattle fire department that we had for many years. Anyway my dad never got it running. I put it in the warehouse 40+ years ago and I moved it about 6 inches to get a little more room, otherwise it is just been sitting there. I believe it's a thousand gal. a minute pumper. I believe it's a Continental Engine and it is a flathead V-12.
