1954 KAISER DARRIN 161 ROADSTER

Not for Sale at this time I want to drive it this summer One of the early American sports cars. This is a true roadster, it uses side curtains instead of roll up windows. The most unique feature are the sliding doors, they slide into the fenders. Fiberglass body. Has a 3 position soft top that folds down into the trunk. Uses the Willys F head Thunder-Bolt engine. 3 speed manual trans. with overdrive. Only 435 were ever built. This one is barn fresh. It was put away in 1983. Cleaned the gas tank rebuilt the carb and went through the brakes. I have replaced the tires with used black walls to drive it while we get all the things done I want to do to it. I may put chrome wire wheels with Coker wide-whites. It runs well and the overdrive works. It needs a complete restoration. My plan at this time is to clean it up. Go over the car and make it very drivable. I may paint it and work on the interior. The top is old I think its the original top. The man I bought it from owned it for over 30 years. It shows 39,000 miles on the speedometer and he thought it might be actual. I dont know so I will sell it unknown. The photos on the web page are as I bought it. We washed it but just to get the big stuff off. The fiberglass body is very good but the paint sucks. The photos dont show the carpet and its bad but we have it for pattern. Its missing the defroster vents, trunk lock, wiper parts and a small inside metal trim piece on the right door. Cond # 4. I have been driving the Darrin and it fun. Sure gets lots of attention from sorts of people. I never did much with the car other then drive it. It smokes I was hopping that after sitting all those years driving it would clear it up but it has not. Runs very well I would drive it any where, might get stopped for pollution? It it sells OK if it does not thats OK too. Remember this is a project car. I have not put it up on the hoist so I dont have underside photos at this time. Cond # 4.
