1957 Chevrolet
Bel-Air Convertible
Sold
1957 Chevrolet Bel-Air Convertible. DGC0915. VIN VC57B110915. I just bought this 1957 convertible in BellinghamWashington. It had the same owner since 1979, 44 years. I looked at it in December and it took the owner until May before she was ready to sell it. I took the car cover off. I turned the key and the battery was still up. I snapped the throttle two times, turned the key and it started right away. All four tires were low so I pumped them up, one tire only had 12 pounds air pressure. Checked it all over. Drove it to the first gas station about a mile away. This gas station had ethanol free gas. I put about 12 gallons in and I found that the gas gauge does not work. It ran good and drove well. I drove it from Bellingham down I-5 to Burlington and went west to Anacortes. I arrived just in time to drive the Sunday Anacortes cruise at 3 PM. When I got to N. Commercial Ave., they were just starting to lineup and head south on Commercial. We made two laps and ended up in a parking lot on the south end of Commercial. I took some photos, then drove back to Burlington to Drager's Clubhouse for a total of 70 miles. A really good first day. We will now get it ready to sell and have it serviced and safety checked. I know that the gas gauge does not work and the turn signal does not cancel. The top works. I have down now. It has power brakes with a split system and disc on the front, drums on the rear. The 283 engine with four barrel carburetor, and dual exhaust that they called the power pack. runs very well and the powerglide transmission works fine. We inspected the underside and did find some rust in the floor. Frame is all good. The rust I saw it looks like it's been there for years. This is going to make a great car for someone. It is not perfect and has a few paint issues, but I got compliments on how nice it looked. I will have more information shortly.
