55 STUDEBAKER PRESIDENT SPEEDSTER 2 DOOR HARD TOP

This is a very rare car and a Milestone car to boot. 259 Studebaker V-8 engine. Automatic transmission. Power steering. Power brakes. Finding another one in this condition would be very hard. Its a frame-up restoration with very few miles. Even the stock radio works, but the clock does not. The underside looks like a frame off. The frame is all painted like a frame off. I did not find any rust any where except a few bubbles on the right rocker under the door. Correct two tone paint color. Has the correct leather interior. Chrome looks good but you find some bad spots. The worst is the left front bumperette. Trunk looks great. Engine was rebuilt along with the transmission. Engine compartment is clean and nice. The transmission was not operating correctly so we had it rebuilt and now works great. It does make a noise in park when revved, but we have the Studebaker service notice regarding the noise. I bought this car because I liked it. Great car to update, but leave it stock on the outside. We have had problems with starting when hot, but I think we have that taken care of. Rebuilt starter and a heavy duty ground strap. Im selling it as is. Great lines. Just a neat looking car, very stylish. Cond. 3. The car is better then a 3 but the operational part brings it down.\r\n\r\nThe 1955 Studebaker President Speedster was Studebakers first step toward the sporty car, and the forerunner to the memorable Hawks. The most expensive offering in this years revived top-line President series, this two-door hardtop featured a special interior with quilted-pattern leather and vinyl upholstery and a full complement of white-on-black instruments set into a dash with a tooled-metal appliqué.\r\n\r\nA high-performance rendition of the Studebaker small-block V-8, now bored out to 259.2 cid, was standard on the 1955 Studebaker President Speedster. The midyear Speedsters shared the heavy, more chrome-laden \"fish-lip\" front-end styling adopted for 55 across the line.\r\n\r\nAll Speedsters wore two or three-tone paint jobs in garish color combinations like the unforgettable \"lemon and lime\" (shown above).\r\n\r\nPluses of the 1955 Studebaker President Speedster:\r\n\r\n * Rarity\r\n * Historical interest\r\n * Excellent performance\r\n * A drivers cockpit\r\n * Equipment\r\n * Another Studebaker Milestone car\r\n\r\nMinuses of the 1955 Studebaker President Speedster:\r\n\r\n * Retrograde facelift of the clean 1953-1954 Studebaker models\r\n * Significant rust problems\r\n * Oil leaks\r\n
